January 29, 2020

Kellee Matsushita-Tseng is the assistant manager of the Farm Garden as well as an Apprenticeship instructor. Kellee was born and raised in unceded Chumash territory (known as the Los Angeles area, CA) where she began her work in youth education, community health, and justice through teaching in urban gardens. In search of more farming and gardening knowledge, Kellee joined the Center for Agroecology as an apprentice in 2014 and later as staff in 2016.

Her job includes supporting all the day-to-day aspects of the Farm Garden, marketing and sales, managing the Farm and Garden Market Cart and plant sale, and much more. She loves her job at the Center for Agroecology for giving her the ability to support others in knowledge-building around food growing and land in such a robust and dynamic environment, and she sees the potential for exponential impact through all the different people she engages with here.

Her goals as assistant manager of the Farm Garden and Apprenticeship instructor include ensuring that the Center for Agroecology is accessible and inclusive to everyone, supporting farmers and gardeners in thinking about the importance of seeds in their systems, helping folks learn about how they can personally engage with the food system and reframing the way we think about land.
