    Weekly Farmstand

    Thursdays, 12:30-6pm from June 20 to September 26, 2024 at the Hay Barn
    Our Farmstand is open to all and features organic vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers grown at the UCSC Farm and Chadwick Garden. Note: Our Farmstand will not occur on July 4, 2024 due to the holiday.

    Beneficial Insects in Your Garden

    June 23, 1-3pm at the Hay Barn or online
    Spend a beautiful summer day with us learning from Dr. Stacy Philpott about all the wonderful beneficial insects in your garden! The first part of the workshop will include a lecture and Q&A about beneficial insects in gardens local to Santa Cruz. Then, in-person participants will take a walk the Farm and try out their insect identification and collection skills!

    Poetry and Music in the Garden

    Saturday, June 29, 12-3pm at the Chadwick Garden
    Poet Laureates and youth poets will read from their work at the 30th anniversary of Poetry and Music in the Chadwick Garden. This year’s lineup features Santa Cruz County’s first Poet Laureate Gary Young and current Laureate Farnaz Fatemi, and El Dorado County Poet Laureate Steven Meadows. We also welcome newcomers to this event, Madeline Aliah and Sylvi Kayser. Plus, enjoy live music by Keith Greeninger.

    Free Guided Tour of the UCSC Farm

    July 7, 2-3:30pm at the UCSC Farm
    Take a free, guided tour of the 30-acre organic UCSC Farm. Visitors can enjoy touring the organically managed greenhouses, hand-worked garden beds, orchards, row crop fields, and children's garden, while learning about the history of the site and the basic concepts of organic farming and gardening.

    Volunteer Work Day

    Saturday, July 13, 9am-12pm at the Chadwick Garden
    Join us in the Chadwick Garden for a volunteer workday! Tasks may include weeding, harvesting, raking leaves, or building compost piles. Please come prepared with adequate shoes, water, and sun protection. We will provide all other necessary tools and light snacks. Questions can be directed to Maddie Holtkamp (mholtkam@ucsc.edu). To participate in volunteer work days, please also fill out our Volunteer Interest Form.

    Farm to Fork Dinner and Barn Dance

    Sunday, September 8
    Dinner: 4-7:30pm at the Farm | Dancing: 7:30-9:30pm at the Hay Barn
    Join us for an evening on the UCSC Farm, featuring music, appetizers, tours, and local wine followed by a four-course family style dinner on the farm. As the sun sets, head down to the Hay Barn for music, dancing, and dessert.
